ABOUT AXTRIA

Axtria is a global leader in data analytics and technology solutions for the life sciences industry. We partner with pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies to transform complex data into actionable insights that accelerate revenue growth and improve patient outcomes. With a presence across North America, Europe, and Asia, Axtria is now expanding its footprint in Japan — one of the world's most significant and dynamic pharmaceutical markets.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Axtria grows its Japan operations, we are seeking a pioneering leader to serve as our Director of Commercial Analytics. This is a rare opportunity to shape the very foundation of Axtria's presence in Japan — not just as a service delivery lead, but as the face of the company in one of the world's most complex and rewarding pharmaceutical markets. You will own client relationships, navigate Japan's unique regulatory and cultural landscape, and build a high-performing local team from the grounds up.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Partnership & Service Excellence

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for Axtria's existing and future pharmaceutical clients in Japan, ensuring delivery excellence, deep satisfaction, and account growth
  • Translate client needs into impactful data and analytics solutions, in close partnership with Axtria's global delivery and technology teams
  • Lead senior-level conversations on commercial analytics strategy, including but not limited to sales force effectiveness, market access analytics, KOL/HCP targeting, data management, AI enablement
  • Proactively identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts and support new business pursuits across Japan

Brand & Institutional Representation

  • Represent Axtria externally as a trusted thought leader in pharma data and analytics across client organizations, industry forums, and regulatory bodies
  • Engage with key Japanese industry associations (e.g., JPMA), regulatory authorities (e.g., PMDA, MHLW), and academic/research institutions as relevant to Axtria's growth agenda
  • Contribute to Axtria's visibility in Japan through conference participation, white papers, and market-facing communications

Team & Capability Building

  • Design and execute a Japan talent strategy — recruiting, onboarding, and developing a high-quality local analytics team over time
  • Create an Axtria culture in Japan that blends global standards with local nuance: rigorous, collaborative, and client-obsessed
  • Act as a mentor and coach for the growing Japan team, instilling best practices in consulting, analytics delivery, and client engagement

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Partner with Axtria's global leadership to define and execute the Japan market strategy, including go-to-market priorities and investment decisions
  • Navigate Japan-specific business practices, compliance requirements, and data regulations (e.g., APPI) in collaboration with global legal and compliance teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Domain Expertise

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, management consulting, or commercial operations within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry in Japan
  • Deep expertise in pharma commercial analytics: sales force effectiveness, market access, patient analytics, multichannel marketing analytics, and/or real-world evidence
  • Proven track record of senior client management at top-tier Japanese pharmaceutical companies (domestic or MNC)
  • Familiarity with Japan-specific pharma data assets such as JMDC, MDV, IQVIA Japan, or similar claims and prescription databases

Leadership & Commercial Skills

  • Experience in hiring, managing, and growing analytics teams;
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence at C-suite and VP level within large Japanese pharma organizations

Language & Cultural Fluency

  • Native or business-level fluency in Japanese (written and spoken); proficiency in English to engage with Axtria's global teams
  • Deep understanding of Japanese pharma industry culture, decision-making dynamics, and client relationship norms
