Job Objective:
Establish and scale Axtria’s presence in China - You will drive the strategic setup of Axtria’s China business, client relationships, and local team development. This role demands a mix of strategic consulting expertise, entrepreneurial leadership, and deep understanding of China’s healthcare, pharma, and technology ecosystem.
This role will collaborate closely with global leadership, building strong partnerships with pharma and biotech clients, and ensuring seamless integration with Axtria’s global operations.

Job Objective:

Role & Responsibilities:
Client Engagement
- Serve as trusted advisor to senior client executives, guiding their data transformation, cloud, analytics, and commercial excellence strategies.
- Understand client eco-system and stakeholders and work towards to find opportunities of providing value to customers.
- Manage client relationship and expectations independently. Should be able to deliver strategic insights and results back to the client independently.
- Expand footprint within existing accounts (upsell/cross-sell): analytics, commercial ops, managed services.
Business development
Partnership Development & Ecosystem Management- Serve as senior consulting leader and trusted advisor to pharma and life sciences clients in China.
- Establish and scale high-impact consulting engagements with life sciences / pharma client (global pharma MNCs and leading Chinese biopharma companies.)
- Responsible for growth— i.e., understanding market & customer dynamics, lead generation, engaging with prospects/customers, eye competitor offerings, identifying possible avenues to provide value across data, AI and analytical /digital transformation areas.
- Ability to lead RFPs and other business development activities. Provide support on proposals, pricing, sales pitch.
- Support Axtria’s marketing activities and develop thought leadership content (white papers, case studies) to win new business.
- Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with key ecosystem players — including local consulting firms, system integrators (SIs), ISVs, data providers, and healthcare technology platforms — to strengthen Axtria’s presence in China.
- Collaborate with Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Snowflake and local technology partners to expand Axtria’s solution reach within the life sciences value chain.
- Identify and collaborate with channel partners or resellers to accelerate client acquisition and service delivery.
- Develop co-marketing, joint GTM, and enablement programs with partners to enhance visibility, credibility, and market penetration.
- Build long-term relationships with industry associations, pharma chambers, and innovation clusters (e.g., Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park ecosystem, China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment).
- Represent Axtria in partnership reviews, strategic forums, and innovation councils to stay aligned with China’s evolving digital and regulatory trends.
- Execute partner governance — defining engagement models, performance KPIs, commercial structures, and joint delivery accountability.
- Foster collaborative innovation programs with universities, research institutes, and digital health startups to pilot advanced data and AI-driven solutions.
Delivery Support
- Lead complex business discussions with customer and help team to translate the same to BRDs.
- Support & guide the delivery team in (China, US and India) independently or with little support to implement & deliver complex project assignments.
- Create solutions for complex engagements end to end — scoping, design, execution, delivery, post-delivery optimization.
- Promote best practices in data engineering, data governance, model development, AI/ML and GenAI paradigms.
- Identify innovation opportunities and steer development of scalable product/platform assets (accelerators, reusable modules).
- Drive process excellence, analytics maturity, and digital transformation to enhance client performance and compliance in China’s evolving healthcare landscape.
Local Team Development & Leadership
- Establish and lead the China team, ensuring alignment with Axtria’s global standards, culture, and business objectives.
- Support definition of organizational structure, roles, and capability requirements to build a strong local presence across consulting, analytics, data engineering, and delivery management.
- Drive local hiring strategy — identify and attract top talent from the life sciences, data, and cloud technology ecosystem in China.
- Ensure effective onboarding, skill development, and continuous learning, leveraging Axtria Axtria Institute University and collaboration with global Centers of Excellence (CoEs).
- Promote employee engagement, retention, and recognition programs tailored for the China market.
Qualification: Bachelors/Masters (MBA/MSc) degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or Data Analytics from premier institutes
Required Experience:
- 10-15 years of experience in management consulting, data analytics, or digital transformation, preferably within Life Sciences / Pharma.
- Proven experience working with or within top-tier consulting firms or pharma commercial analytics teams.
- Deep understanding of China’s healthcare and technology landscape, including local regulatory environment.
- Track record of business setup or expansion in new markets (especially China).
- Bilingual proficiency – fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (essential).
- Excellent communication skills and storyboarding of results (must be able to interface with team in India and US)
- Strong executive presence and ability to engage with CXO-level stakeholders.
- Strong leadership experience in managing large consulting teams and client portfolios.
- Oral and written language proficiency in English and Standard Mandarin
- Understanding of NMPA (China FDA) environment, compliance in promotion, and data privacy (PIPL)
