The Opportunity 
We are hiring a high-impact Director of Data Science to lead AI/ML and GenAI initiatives across life sciences clients. This role will focus on scaling Axtria’s AI offerings, driving business growth, and delivering innovative solutions for Commercial and Clinical organizations. 

Key Responsibilities  

Your mandate is to expand strategic partnerships, generate multi-million-dollar revenue streams, and deliver measurable outcomes through the intelligent application of GenAI, predictive modeling, NLP, and agentic workflows.   

  • Lead client engagements and expansion of business focused on GenAI, AI/ML, and ML Ops across Commercial and Clinical functions with top-20 global pharmaceutical clients; craft enterprise AI/ML solutions tailored to brand strategy, GTM, RWE, and patient engagement.  

  • Manage a portfolio P&L with accountability for revenue growth, gross margins, and delivery excellence.  

  • Develop and convert pipeline opportunities ($1-3M+ range) by aligning client priorities with Axtria’s GenAI and ML offerings.  

  • Influence account strategy, pricing models, investment cases, and strategic alliances.  

  • Oversee solution delivery teams (15+ globally), ensuring scientific rigor, innovation velocity, and commercial impact.  

  • Direct end-to-end design and scaling of GenAI pipelines (LLMs, RAG, multi-agent systems), causal inference, field optimization, and omni-channel orchestration solutions.  

  • Lead the development of next-gen agentic architectures that support autonomous decisioning, adaptive learning loops, and personalized interventions.  

  • Drive reusability via domain-specific agent libraries, GenAI prompt kits, and modular ML workflows.  

  • Build and scale a world-class AI/ML and GenAI delivery organization across the US, India, and EU.  

  • Engage in industry forums, contribute to innovation, and enhance Axtria’s reputation in the market. 

  • Design solution frameworks to accelerate AI adoption and impact patient outcomes. 

  • Develop and pitch proposals to grow the Data Science practice and Axtria’s client base. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field preferred. 

  • 12+ years in life sciences, including 5+ years in data science, AI/ML, and ML Ops. 

  • Proven expertise in Python, R, TensorFlow, Keras, NLP, deep learning, and big data. 

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), ML pipelines, automation, and deployment. 

  • Strong consultative and client-facing experience with a commercial mindset. 

  • Experience in RFP development, solution selling, and delivering AI applications in life sciences. 

  • Knowledge of digital automation tools (e.g., low/no-code platforms, APIs, DevOps) a plus. 

  • Patents or publications in AI/ML a strong plus.

Pay Transparency Laws 
Salary range or hourly pay range for the position 
 
The salary range for this position is $157,600 to $205,425 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. 
 
The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
